On June 16 the Whittier Area Chamber of Commerce held its Community Expo, and California Grill was there with a vendor table and as the sponsor of the Expo's opportunity drawing.
Expos like this are one of our favorite days of the year. Local businesses, nonprofits and neighbors all in one room, meeting face to face instead of through a screen.
What we brought
We came to talk food and catering with the people who make Whittier run: office managers, school staff, church and nonprofit coordinators, and small business owners who feed their teams every week. A lot of those conversations start the same way: "Wait, you cater?" Yes. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, for 10 to 1,000+ guests, from the same kitchen that has been cooking on Painter Ave since 1996.
We also sponsored the opportunity drawing, because nothing gets a room excited like a chance to win, and because supporting the Chamber's events is one way we give back to an organization that has backed local businesses for decades.
Why we keep showing up
Being family owned in one spot for 30 years means our customers are our neighbors. The Expo is a chance to meet the next group of them, catch up with regulars, and remind people that the restaurant they know for breakfast and fight nights also handles boxed lunches, office breakfasts, banquets and fundraisers.
